Introduction
Welcome to Record Inspector, the low-cost alternative to professional genealogy. While standard genealogical services are available from Record Inspector, the business started as an answer to issues of access of individual records in Scotland.
While some records are available online at Scotland's People (the online version of the General Register Office of Scotland), some are not. While the "hundred years' rule" applies to records available online, it does not apply if you are viewing records in person at the Edinburgh facility at New Register House. You can order copies of these records by telephone, internet or post, but they cost £11 to £13 each, and may not contain the information you are looking for. You can view the records on site and simply transcribe the information contained in them, but you must be at the Edinburgh facility to do so.
If you cannot get to New Register House yourself, Record Inspector is here to help. I hope you find the answers to your questions on this site, but if you do not, please feel free to contact us at .
